Strictly necessary — a technical session cookie that keeps the contact form secure (CSRF protection and spam rate-limiting). It carries no personal data and isn't used to identify or track you. Because it's necessary for a feature you've actively asked for, it's set regardless of the choice below — this is the same exemption most cookie banners rely on for things like a shopping cart or a login session.
Analytics — Google Analytics 4, used only to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. This one is off by default and only turns on if you click Accept on the banner; declining keeps it fully off, for this visit and every future one, until you clear this site's data in your browser (which brings the banner back).
Under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the ePrivacy Directive — Ireland's "Cookie Law" — a cookie that isn't strictly necessary for a feature you've requested needs your clear, freely-given consent before it's set. That's the analytics cookie above; declining is always exactly as available as accepting.
Google requires every site using Analytics to confirm it has adequate privacy disclosures and consent from visitors before any data collected is associated with them. This page and the banner above are that disclosure: Google Analytics on this site only runs, and only associates any data with your visit, after you click Accept — never before, and never if you decline.
Messages submitted via the contact form are emailed directly to my inbox and aren't stored anywhere else on this site or shared with any third party.
When analytics is on, Google Ireland Limited processes that data as described in Google's own privacy policy. No other third party receives data from this site.
